Causes and solutions for touch display module flickering

During use, touchscreen devices may occasionally exhibit irregular flickering or jumping of images or text on the screen, a phenomenon known as “screen flickering.” This issue can stem from various factors, including hardware malfunctions, software anomalies, external environmental interference, and user operating habits.


1. Hardware-Related Causes


Abnormal Flex Cable Connections: If the device has been dropped or subjected to vibration, internal flex cables may become loose or develop poor contact, leading to unstable signal transmission and subsequent screen flickering.


Solder Joint Failures: Although uncommon, issues like cold solder joints or solder joint separation at the connection points between the ribbon cable and the screen can cause display abnormalities, typically requiring professional repair.


Internal Screen Damage: Displays typically consist of multiple layers, including touch, display, and backlight components. Damage or aging in any layer can cause screen flickering. For example, OLED screens are prone to visual flickering at low brightness levels due to variations in the properties of their light-emitting materials.
